Surprised and envious that in California they were permitted to do a pier footing. This is a lovely cottage with a functional design. The commentary on cost effective building is truly wise!
Hi Faith, it’s not a true pier foundation in that the piers are connected by concrete grade beams just at or below ground level. You can see them if you look very closely at the photos. It still saved concrete, but not as much as would be possible where earthquakes are rare.
Thanks for reading!

I’m loving this house! I’ve been looking to build a second home on property I own in the Russian River Valley in Sonoma and this has all the bells and whistles I’m looking for. I’m wondering if there’s anyway to find out the overall width and length of the home?

I would like to know the size of the house also. I can’t figure out where the bathroom is or what that corner near the kitchen is also.
