Nestled into a seaside cliff in Cornwall, England is The Edge, a tiny cottage with huge views. A breath-taking vista of the Atlantic Ocean and coastline can be enjoyed from its deck. The cliffs of Cornwall are dotted with small cottages, typically simple one-story structures with shallow-pitched gable roofs. The Edge updates the traditional Cornish beach hut with modern conveniences and high-end finishes. It was designed by local Cornwall architect Bob Woffenden with interior decor by the owners.
The Edge has one bedroom in just 30 m2 (320 ft2) of floorspace. The living room, kitchen, entry porch and bedroom each occupy one corner of the small floor plan. The bathroom is tucked between the entry porch and the fully-equipped kitchen. The front door opens into a very short hallway with the living area straight ahead and doors to the bedroom and bathroom on either side.
The interior features classic beach cottage finishes with wood floors and countertop, beadboard ceilings and white-painted woodwork. Several porthole windows add a distinctly nautical touch. The living area has a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows to take full advantage of the view. The glass wall folds away to completely open up the space to the sea air and views. Just outside is the wood deck that wraps around three sides of the small cottage. The bedroom is small but does accommodate a double bed pushed up against the wall. Another floor-to-ceiling window offers views of the ocean from the bed.
