Eagles Pass, a classic Cape Breton Island cottage
Eagles Pass is a small seaside cottage on Cape Breton Island in Canada. Designed and built by owner Stewart Applegath in a traditional Cape Breton style, it has minimal roof overhangs, mostly small windows, and classic shingle siding.
The interior combines traditional and contemporary details. A hand-built kitchen sits along one wall of the open-plan living space. The corrugated metal of the kitchen wall complements the white-painted exposed framing of the other walls and the cathedral ceiling. Large corner windows open the room to the deck and the ocean view.
The 768 ft2 (71 m2) of floor space also includes two bedrooms. The master bedroom and the bathroom are reached by a short hall to the right of the stove, while the smaller second bedroom and a pantry are accessed to the left of the fridge.
Eagles Pass is available for vacation rentals through HomeAway.
